Hi All,

I need to re-seal my bath.

I have removed the old silicone but there is a gap of about 1cm between bath and wall.

What's the best way to re-seal?

Any help would be appreciated.

Can't you lift the bath from underneath by unscrewing the feet (and level it up at same time)?
It looks like it's dropped more than come away from the wall.
If you can't, you could mask the bath and tiles first and fill the gap with expanding foam, then use a pvc trim, they make them in different sizes to suit.

I don't feel comfortable lifting the bath as I'm not sure how to reach the feet as the bath is already in place.

Is there any particular expanding foam I should use? Are there waterproof ones?

You don't physically lift the bath yourself, you just need to take the panel off and turn the bolts at the feet with a spanner.
If you unscrew, the bath will lift and vice versa.
All expanding foam are waterproof.
If you have never used them, be aware: if you think you haven't put enough, you have already put too much.
It expands to many many times while curing.

I'd recommend a minimal expanding foam.

It will be waterproof but given that it will expand when you cut it back the degree of watertiteness will be slightly compromised.

Most cans need to be held upside down whilst in use. When using those cans
, after use, turn the can upright and press down on the tube/nozzle. That will fire out some of the propellant and clear the tube. If you don't you may find foam oozing out of the tube for a few minutes. I always leave the cans sitting on an old newspaper.

If you don't plan to use the can again within the next day or two, bin it. It will become clogged and unusable.

Expanding foam is a great product but can be very messy. I would strongly recommend buying some foam cleaner at the same time- if you don't use the cleaner you can return it to toolstation. Decorator's wipes would be advisable as well.

If your masking tape is not well adhered the foam may bleed under it.

Oh, and do not smoke whilst using it. The propellant is very flammable.

Are these the nuts you mean?

Tighten the nut on the underside of the part of the bath that has dropped (ie clockwise)- it will push the bath upwards. Hopefully it will close up the gap and negate the need to use the expanding foam. You will still need to silicone it though.

Thanks. I will take a look.

Incorrect.
For that kind of legs you first need to release the nut on the top anti clockwise (looking at it from top, so pretending the bath is not there), then turn the bottom one anti clockwise and the bath will lift in that corner.
Adjust all corners accordingly, then holding the bottom nuts, tighten the top ones firmly.
You can't really make a mistake because if you turn the nuts the wrong way the bath will drop, so you'd know you need to turn it the other way.

The only thing with locking with the top nut is it is in a valley which allmost makes it semi captive so could bind on the tube....some washers under it would raise it clear.

Thanks you.

What do you mean 'adjust all corners accordingly'.

Do you mean by the same amount?

What does 'semi captive' mean?

I'm a complete beginner when it comes to diy.

No, as much as needed to get the bath at tiles level.
Each corner will need its own adjustment.
