Outdoor Light

Hi there,

I wonder if anyone could help. I have just replaced an outdoor light with an Up & Down Light, on the right hand side of the front door. Now the missis has said another light the other side of the front door would look good (she's always right). Now the light switch is right behind where I want this second light to go. Could i drill a hole through the brick and feed some T&E cable direct to the switch as opposed to spurring it from the other light? (Way easier as I don't want any wires showing) Just wondered if it could be done this way?

Have you had a look behind the switch yet? turn the power off before you unscrew it, a picture of the wiring would be good.

Why do you want to light up the sky? You should have used a downlighter only.

Yes, but you have to be certain what you believe to be a neutral REALLY IS a neutral.

Yes you would .

Usually a switch will have twin&E Red/Black/Bare or if new , Brown/Blue/Bare
The bare is the earth and usually sleeved in Green/yellow striped
BUT the other two are LIVE only and NOT neutral
For example the RED or Brown is live from the Supply and then When switched uses the Black/Blue to take the Live to the Light
the Black/Blue should have a red/Brown sleeve on to donate that it is actually a live wire
