2 way motorised valve problem

Nope would never be a frozen pipe, try switching off the upstairs heating and the HW circuit and only leave the downstairs circuit on, what happens then ?

Then I get hotter pipe out of the valve to the downstairs rads, but no heat in the rads

what valves on the downstairs radiators? and how many radiators ?

Yep checked that and all fine.

Just out of interest, finally diagnosed the problem as a non-return valve that had got stuck.

If you are opening the valve manually and you have other zones open at the same , and the radiators are not heating then you have some kind of obstruction
