Senator Birmingham said he expected possible tweaks to existing immigration rules to allow “more flexibility”, but stressed his priority was sealing a free trade deal focused on giving Australian exporters easier access to the lucrative British market

“We're not into full negotiating mode"

Quite right too - why should they allow freedom of movement between Australia and the UK? But, if you’re going to quote stuff to somehow prove your point, feel free to give the whole quote and not just selected snippets.

One of the reasons many voted for Brexit was to stop freedom of movement that we didn’t want any old EU scumbag coming over here and bleeding us dry. I don’t want Australians having the freedom to come and go from the UK any more than Australia wants UK residents freedom of access to come to their country. Australia is desirable for many people precisely because of their points based system - they’ve kept the rubbish out!

Full quote: “We're not into full negotiating mode and we will have to see what the UK aspires to, but noting that work rights and movement of people in the UK has been a big part of the European Union debate, I would be surprised if complete liberalisation around migration and labour rights was on their agenda,”

Anyway, as per the title of this thread, have the UK proposed anything to Australia? When?

So, contrary to the post title, Australia hasn't rejected any UK trade proposal

"we will have to see what the UK aspires to"

"I would be surprised if complete liberalisation around migration and labour rights was on their (UK) agenda"

"some changes to work rights would be proposed and accepted by both sides"

doesn't seem to support the content of your post title at all

This looks to me they want to do a deal... With our lucrative market!!!!
With all the love intended.... I'm not really sure of your point

In Sept Liz Truss said:
"that visa-free travel could form part of a deal once Britain exits the European Union"

In Jan
  • The Morrison government has rejected a post-Brexit trade agreement that included visa-free work and travel between Australia and the United Kingdom.
  • Trade Minister Simon Birmingham said changes to work rights would be proposed and accepted on both sides but not full free movement.
  • The Australian government was worried it would cause an exodus of highly trained workers to the UK and an influx of unskilled brits to Sydney and Melbourne.
  • Australian trade negotiators hope a deal can be struck soon

Free movement was a trade deal proposal, it has been rejected
That is what the thread title says

You painted it up as a negative. Negotiations have to work for both country's. Australia want access to our lucrative market... I see that as a posative... Do you not?

Notch and his crowd failed in stopping us leaving the EU. This has been a massive attack on the wellbeing of our country by putting us 4 years behind... These obstucters are trying to create more negativety....... Well done I hope your proud........ Are you the Russians???

No - it was one suggested element of a trade deal
Yes, the word 'proposal' refers to that one element

No - the thread title states "Australia rejects UK trade deal proposals" - no such rejection has happened
The UK has made that proposal
Australian trade minister has rejected it.

A rejection has happened.

As your own post states - Australia wants a deal
Love bombing.

Australias biggest trade partners are 1. China, 2. EU
Aust currently negotiating deal with EU, far more important to them than UK.

Australia may be keen on a quick deal because until UK have secured major deals it is weak.
Australia and NZ will insist on deal that opens up UK markets, which will damage UK farming.

Then there is the matter of Aust beef with hormones.....

How has Notch tried to stop the UK leaving the EU? How is Notch attacked the well-being of this country?

How simple your views are, not looking any further than the blame game.

Yes, the word 'proposal' refers to that one element

Except that your post tile states "PROPOSALS"

Proposal - singular/one element
Proposals - plural/more than one element

The Russians bankrolled brexit.

And the American banks helped to fund remain
