Hi all, I have been asked to help a friend out who is renovating a property in France. I am a retired 16th English electrician, but struggling to find the latest edition of the regs (most helpfull in English), and dont want to let my friend down. Can anyone help me with this ?

Thanks frodoone, but as I said in answer to that post, I need up to date regs, and hopefully in English. For example bonding and cross bonding while using plastic pipe, also rj boxes requirements per room, and limits to type a and ac fuses with also the max numbers of units.

earthing water pipes !

yes i know that, thats why i need to find what the regs say about how to get over that problem, as the whole house has plastic pipes but using electric water heating and metal taps. So does this require the taps to be bonded so that a problem with the element does not provide live water ?
I would imagine the regs say nothing about it, or maybe they are like the UK and think it necessary to inform people that plastic pipes "do not require bonding" rather than stating that it is impossible because they don't conduct electricity.

Metal parts have to be bonded because they are earthed by some means; if they are not earthed by any means then they must not be earthed (bonded unnecessarily).

they dont seam to be big on bonding or earth here, and while i know that tails of less then .5m when connected to plastic pipes in England, dont require bonding, I cant find anything here to confirm this. So before asking for a sign off inspection I want to see if there is any regs say ya or na.

If the house has electric water heating the heating device will (should) include a PE connection to the external of the element and, therefore, the metal-work of the heater and any metal that is directly connected to it. By this means, the heater and any metal pipes connected to it will be "bonded" to the PE.
Having said that, there is unlikely to be any regulation to prevent you providing additional bonding of any metal pipe entering (or leaving) such a device (or the device itself) to the main PE connection by as direct a means as possible, providing that the bonding conductor is not less in size (diameter) than that required for the main PE connection.
(Of course, you should not provide any (additional) Earth Stake just to provide a separate "Local" Earth connection for any such device.)
