Hi All,

I've been banging my head on this for over a year now, (so long my original thread says do i really want to reply to a thread that has been idle for over a year!)

But i shall persist...

I am trying to set up 4 or 5? groups on my Dimension 96 panel.

group a1 - i want all pirs+contacts armed + all 24 hour zones (glassbreak, panic + smoke)
group a2 - i want a subset of pirs+ contacts of group a1 + all 24 hour
group a3 - i want the inverse of group a2 + all 24 hour
group a4 - i want just the contacts + 24 hour zones...
group a5? (Not sure if this is needed) but just my 24 hour zones - glassbreak, panic and smoke...

Can anyone give me a direction on this?

Do i not do group a1, and instead only have groups a2 - a4? a1 is then all of those groups?

System is 2 touch centres (041's), one mk7, one lce from galaxyguy, two rio's

One internal sounder, and one external sounder...

Also is there a way to upgrade the firmware on the 041's? they are both on different versions, and also is there any way to modify to make them work as proxy ie become 043's?

I think realistically the only way to achieve this might be as follows:

Place all contacts in Group 1
Place selection of PIRs in Group 2
Place the remaining PIRs in Group 3
Place glass break sensors in Group 4

The PA and smokes can go into any group as technically their programming makes them active 24 hours regardless of any group settings

You would then have to manually select which groups to arm. IE a full set would be to select groups 1, 2, 3 and 4 when leaving. Perimeter might be groups 1 and 4 only.

This is part of the reason I'm not a fan of the Galaxy Dimension for larger or more demanding residential installations, too fiddly to operate and not enough flexible part setting options.

I would imagine that there's a hardware difference between the Touch Centre 041 non prox and the 042 prox, so I suspect you'd have to physically change the unit to enable prox functions.

Thanks scott, I may try that, do you have any experiance with setting up groups? just wanted to understand what the "also affects" side of it means?

I install Galaxy alarm panels as part of my job so I do have a bit of experience with groups. The "also affects" part of the group programming allows zones programmed as Final that are physically within a certain group (ie Group 1) to terminate the exit procedure for other groups. This would typically be assigned to the final door used to enter and exit the premises so that multiple group exit timers can all be terminated when the final door has been closed.
