Researchers plan to study the effe t of nicotine patches on this flu

Patients and health care workers treating infected patients are suggesting that smokers are less likely to catch the desease?

Smokers seem to make up a dissportiabntely small. Number of flu paitents?

Researchers in France believe that nicotine may serve as a potential preventative agent?

My wife was telling me that - apparently you’re 4 times less likely to die from it if you’re a smoker. I might consider taking it up again!

When I smoked, I hardly ever had the sniffles or any sort of cold/flu illness.Even after giving up, hardly suffer, but at the moment hayfever is a bummer.

Been a smoker for almost 50 years bar a brief 10 month period when I gave up. Got rear ended by a 38 tone lorry and a WPC lit a fag up and gave it to me.
I explained I'd given up 10 months earlier and she replied, "If you hadn't avoided the van in front of you sir you would be dead. Would it have been worth giving up for that?" (or words to that effect). So I started again and enjoy it. Yes, I know all the doom and gloom figures/risks etc and seen the photo's/videos etc But I've never had the flu, only suffer mildly if/when I get a cold and can hold my own with workers much younger than myself. Even my CKD went into remission 2 years ago and I only take 1 blood pressure tablet to ensure my BP stays steady. At my last clinic appointment I was told I was as fit as a 40 year old and don't bother coming back for 12 months.
So maybe it is the nicotine or maybe it's just that my lungs have a good lining of tar in them. :-)

I stopped some six years ago after smoking all of my life, I just made a decision to stop. I had several thousand in stock at the time - Just like falling off a log and I have not fancied one since then in the slightest.

I know a mechanic that had a bad case of flu and went into hospital. Couldn't smoke there and had more problems. An elderly nurse said Mr Nicotine has been protecting you. He then had a problem that has always worried me in a round about sort of way re going to hospital. They gave him a hospital antibiotic and his kidneys packed up so had to have dialysis until they recovered. Maybe they gave him one a GP could prescribe - who knows?

He could have had a flu jab though but didn't bother. May have helped.
