Aldi stuff is non-serviceable. For something that has many moving parts, not a good idea. Depends upon your situation. If you want to use it many times on single project - then it may be ok. Unlikely to stand being unused for prolonged duration.

You would be better off buying a reconditioned Honda powered compactor if you want one that is stood idle for long periods. Ours flicks into life instantly even if it has been outside all winter for six months. Incredible engines. Every single part is easily available and replaceable. Most hire outlets can work on them blindfold.

Talking to the girl at Axminster tools the other day, and she told me that people are always coming in for things like belts for Parkside(Lidl) planers, only to be told that none of the spares seem to fit them. I have heard that they will uphold the 3 year deal though.

And there's the rub. It's why I mentioned the situation. I know that I can get parts for my tools just about anywhere, which is useful when you are on the road and summat breaks down. Pro's should always stick to branded stuff. Infrequent DIY usage - Parkside mebbe. Some cheap tools don't like sitting idle either.

Aye that's the risk ye take I suppose.

Checked the company out online and seem to be pretty well established German company so hopefully shouldn't be too hard to get spares if you need to.

I'll report back when it arrives let ye know how it performs

Hey. Would love to know how you got on with the aldi plate as about to pull the trigger on it as back in stock... Thanks in advance

Been using for almost a year now and can’t fault it to date.

The engine is just a copy of a Honda and has plenty of compaction power. Not used it for any heavy duty work, mostly floors in extensions so whacking the blinding and hardcore and it’s not missed a beat.

It’s early doors as I’ve only had it a year but so far so good would recommend it.
