How government 'counted single gloves rather than pairs to boast of one billion items of PPE for NHS

People need to go check what is in the billions rather than just think about ambidextrous gloves or maybe for economy they were all right hand having found that there are a negligible number of left handed people in the NHS so stuff them. They can easily learn to be right handed and later move to brain surgery. Right wing politicians tend to pay for their lobotomies themselves and have it done privately.

A BBC documentary last night claimed ministers counted every glove individually instead of in pairs to boast of delivering one billion bits of PPE to NHS staff frontline - as yet another minister suffered a shambolic round of interviews today.

The Panorama investigation said Number 10 had failed to procure enough protective equipment, such as masks, gowns and visors.

It also accused ministers of counting 547million gloves individually, instead of as 273.5million pairs, to fiddle PPE numbers.

The one billion figure also included items which are not considered PPE, including millions of cleaning products, waste bags, detergents and paper towels.

I thought gloves were counted in singles but then is it a bit underhand to say billion of equipment when it was something like 887m pieces and then double counting for the gloves - unles there are a lot of prostate exams happening!

They don't come in pairs. They are left and right handed....

Who writes this crap.. Do the do their research?

Ok, but that is not how they are sold.

It might not be the same in the health service but when I use them, I tend to use more on my right hand than the left so maybe they should be sold as 33 triples. That's why Conny has one left over.

Have you got 3 hands?

I've been using gloves one or two at time. I was my hands with them on with soap and water. I also carry a disinfectant that I spay them with.

I've been in hospital recently I see how much they waste.

I've got a box of cotton buds here.

So that'll be 250 pieces by Matt Hancock's maths.

I've just asked Matt, out BM transport manager how many items are on the lorry. I couldn't remember whether it was 6 or seven tonne bags of sand.

He said you will be receiving 88 million items.
