What are the current trends in en-suites/bathrooms?

I'm renovating our en-suite and to be frank I don't care that much what it looks like or features it has because i'm a fairly simple bloke but I want it to be desirable to other people for when we sell the house in a year or so.

What are people expecting in a high spec ensuite these days, any ideas where to look for what tiles/fittings people are actually putting in and want? My googling just turns up lots of concept pinterest type images.

Ive done mine very simply with not too much work if someone need to change it, mostly painted walls with plain tiles in wet areas but good quality stuff fitted .If you go to town following sites like PI the chances the it will be out of fashion again which will be disruptive and expensive to change which may put some off
Have a look for timeless design ideas

Floor to ceiling shower enclosure.
Rain shower.
Toilet.
Handbasin.
Bidet...?

Don't go for this years 'trendy' tiles.

Personally I prefer wall panels*, not plastic ones unless such are UV stable. It is possible to get 'Shower Panelling' with WBP/marine ply as the core to Melamine facings. e.g. https://www.rearo.co.uk/choosing-your-wall-panels/

*Ex had a tiled shower wall collapse whilst she was showering - many tiles shattered as the wall collapsed so thanks to her quick reactions in jumping out of the shower she was very lucky not to have her legs cut (shredded) by the broken tiles.

When I had to "create" a shower in my cottage I used two 8 by 4 sheets of ABS plastic as a quick fix, 9 years later they are still there and totally leak proof

Thanks for the replies. I will try to avoid temptation to go OTT and keep it neutral as suggested. I'm very tempted to go for a panel in the shower, less grout to clean and I like the clean looks though some people have declared they look cheap (probably depends on the type). I have my eye on a translucent acrylic looking one.

I did think about wet room but I hope they aren't as fashionable as they used to be because of the amount of work involved and personally I don't like the idea of water everywhere whenever someone has a shower.

I'm on a big mill conversion at the moment, supposedly high spec/high price designer apartments aimed at owner occupiers:

White ceramics seems to be in vogue, together with a full size "walk in" shower (very shallow tray) and oversize shower head, as you say. Hand basin and WC hung off the wall with hidden cistern (pretty much universal on new build apartments), large mirror above WC/basin and large cupboard behind mirror in dk. grey or dk. brown (wood grain). Large size tiles on much of the wall space. Dark colour large tiles on floor. Multiple small lights in ceiling. Remind me of better quality hotels, TBH, although the materials generally seem a bit more swish

I don't know about trends, but I hate fixed shower heads, rainfall or otherwise. If you want one, please also fit a handheld spray on a riser rail with a changeover tap.

I would like a demister mirror, soft/bright general lighting choice, and many people would like several shaver points suitable for charging bathroomy things.

Just make sure you get decent taps, shower valves, toilets. Nothing worse than a rubbish B&Q one that tarnishes within a year, drips, and has a awful thermostat!

I've done well buying Grohe stuff on eBay, some has Euro fittings, so you just need an adapter for the pipe size.
