Hi guys,

I have problem with a Baxi Combi 80Eco boiler. There is no hot water and no heating. The problem was intermittent but after few weeks now it fails consistently.
The diverter valve seems to be working (although slightly covered in limescale) - the pin is nicely coming out. I can see that it is not firing up. What could be the issue? Spark generator? Is there any way to diagnose it?

Kind Regards,
Les

Yes, a qualified engineer.
Yes I called one today and he immediately suggested replacing the boiler :D (no joke, he said that baxi boilers are no good)
In all seriousness will try and find someone if the problem is more complicated than unscrewing few things.
If you turn the room thermostat up, does that fire the heating?
No it does not.

Also forgot to mention that the pump is fine (followed this thread - https://www.diynot.com/diy/threads/baxi-combi-80e-no-flame.508588/ and mine is not stuck).

Pump proving switch diaphragm probably worn, there is another pin that sits on top of the diverter valve that also comes out and makes a microswitch, have the pump running and see if it moves.

Thanks for the schematic. Both pins are moving fine.

try linking out the microswitch.
Not sure how to do it and I don't have the tools for it, which probably means I should get an engineer :)
At least I know which part might be at fault, thanks for that.

If you have any other suggestions please feel free to share them.

Can you hear the ignition sequince sparking ? and you need a different engineer that can repair boilers not someone that flings boxes on walls, your boiler is perfectly serviceable

Interesting question, when the problem was intermittent I listened very carefully and indeed whenever boiler is not firing up the last clicking sound is missing.
Same problem right now - last 'click' is not there.

the lights on the boiler that show the temp are also fault lights what lights are showing when it does not fire up ? Pics are good , post a pic of the control panel when it wont fire

OK edit your post, That is not a Baxi 80E you have a baxi 80 Eco, they are not the same boiler, totally agree that manus call all these boilers by confusing names, the Baxi E has a fault code of leds on the control panel yours doesnt , did your boiler pressure drop recently ?

My bad about the boiler name.
It dropped few weeks ago, yes and I adjusted it. I think that actually coincides with when the problems started.

Your boiler has an overheat thermostat and sometimes when the pressure drops the boiler gets too hot as not enough water in it, so could be that has tripped, it cuts out the ignition sequence

Hmm but an overheat stat is not intermittent on these models...each time it would require manually resetting inside.
AFAIR the stats were replaced (to auto resetting) but wired into the ignition sense so an overheat condition would cause a lockout and rest on the front panel.
Sounds more like a combustion issue/pcb...needs a qualified eng. out. Basic boiler and simple to repair.
