Evohome installation help

Then I give up mate.
:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I gave up long time ago:whistle::whistle::whistle:

Horse and watering hole proverb comes to mind.

OP, either you stick with one responder, follow his advice word for word, also shelf the idea that you are a super clever person ( if that was the case, you would not be here asking for guidance), you will get there. I gave up when I realised my advise was not of use to you ( 28 years in this game, 23 previous as service engineer :LOL:). Once you have got the convoluted wiring sorted, you will not be out of the woods

One needs to have an understanding what each component is doing. Once that is realised, you are half way there.

Hint, hint, do you know what that thank you button does :p:p:p:p

well thank you to all, you will be pleased to know that the system is now working perfectly, across all zones and firing only when a demand is needed - that said my hotwater doesnt seem to have kicked in this morning, thinkits my schedule though,

So all your ****ty comments there DP, not needed, not constructive and not helpful.

The whole idea of a DIY forum is to learn to do it yourself; can you program A Cisco core stack with segregated VLANs across 7 nodes and 3 locations to allow 10GB pass-trough from a VX Rail stretched cluster? ahh, thought not. - Point here, we are all clever at the things we do and for the grey areas... you ask for help or pay someone else to do it, but where is the satisfaction in that?

well that'il do it... no pressure.... chuffing cheap and nasty Suregraft TRV's - leaking like a mofo from the pin, en-suite is like a paddling pool, haha. GRRRRRRRRRRR

ah thats a shame, (assume they came from plumbase)

i've got 1 sure graft and its been fine, though i've put the trade valves from toolstation on rest of house except the rads i bought from screwfix witht he draytons.

although its good to know that the suregraft is compatible with evohome.

with the hot water, have you gone into the installer settings and set the temperature required?

They did indeed come from plumbase, all my kit did bar my boiler and controls. i have 17 Suregraft and 3 leak, the ensuite looks like it has been leaking for some time as the grippers are all rusted and stains on the underside of carpet, (yes carpet!, its not bee changed since we moved in, its the next room to do) and i have 5 drayton trv, both work fine with the Evo HR91 and HR92 with no modifications.

I have set the hot water temp to 57C yep.

Exactly.. Great stuff.

Well done on getting that mess sorted!(y)(y)(y)

Fixed all my problems with my boiler last night and today.

With help from some on here others not so much as you have mentioned.

Now sorting out the themostatic cartridge on the shower.

But suppose I am a complete fool for attemping it myself.. Even worse for asking for advice..:D:D

Think Mr DP knows how to formulate test and mass produce V1 and V2 antiviral SARSCoV2 (Covid19) killing fogging and deep cleaning disinfectant. To help clean care homes hospital wards hotels shops gyms offices warehouses pretty much every place you could think of so its safe for people to return to work after covid 19 incidents.

Well if he can't least I am part of the team that does.

Not bad for alright jacks sidekick as he said I was.

Turns out fixing problems with a boiler and HW isnt too hard. If I can do it in an evening with a few parts from ebay.

Just don't touch the gas bit unless your "Gas safe":p:p

Well done pal, hats off to you.

If people dont try and go outside of their comfort zone nothing will ever change! Mr DP would have been a beginner at some time too not knowing a thing and asking these same questions, its just that some people think that they are better than other and above their stations, knowledge is power after all.

Exactly.. What do you tell people that have just started working for you? If you have a problem or don't know how to do it. Just ask.. Better than carrying on and make a mistake.

Then to tear somebody down for asking a question is sad. How will they learn.

If I ever have a question about all that crazy VLAN stuff you said I know where to come.

Closest think I can think of Im thinking about getting a Wifi6 mesh system for my house and wondered wether its worth spending more on wifi6 one yet as my house wifi is wireless off a sim. If I would get more reliable speeds coverage and less dropout lol..

Outside comfort zone is best place to be;)

Slightly off topic, but hey, we are here.

I wouldn't bother with WiFi 4,5 or 6 devices and i would focus on Ubiquiti UAP-AC-PRO and a CloudKey, these are enterprise grade WiFi tech at home owner price points, they are all POE and just need a CAT5/6 cable to each from your POE switch.

these create a mesh network for a seamless WiFi experience across your full covered area, i have a setup like that here at home with a few more bits to boot. Such as, A Point to Point link between my house and my sisters to allow a LAN extension for media sharing via PLEX from my 80TB Server also an outdoor Access point to provide WiFi coverage to the ends of my garden.

Its not about asking questions its more to do with having an attitude, sh4dow wanted help with his evohome, lots of help and a wiring diagram later and he still got it wrong, regardless of what he has posted his system is not working properly, anyone that has experience of wiring heating systems can see why but I am now starting to realise that helping out in the plumbing forum is a waste of time and energy.

Yes been looking at Ubiquiti. I have plex but on a much smaller scale thanks for tips, Somthing to think about also I have a very long garden and I will be building some sheds/workshop/bar down the bottom. So having coverage down there with p2p would be great.

Thanks will get off this thread now.

Hey mate, I did not have an attitude and if it came over that way than i am sorry, i am here looking for help and advice for you guys. but also i am getting simimlar advice from the Automated Home forum and Resideo technical, whom both tell me contradicting information to yourself, in a WIRED system you are correct, the orange and grays need wiring up but in the Evo Home they do not, the BDR is a relay. Also see page 43 of the installation manual, that is listed here.

I hear you and understand your stance, i also want to explore your option in more detail, i was going to ask you to explain your theroy more, as very clearly, i dont understand - given your response im not to sure you are willing to do so?
