I'm installing a fire door between my new garage and utililty room. The opening is larger than the frame by around 100mm width and 150mm height.

I will pack around and fire seal/foam but wanted to know how I would go about finishing off the garage facing side?

Obviously I don't want the foam on show and it's not being skimmed. Is there a way of somehow panelling it to adhere to the regs regarding a fire door?

I suppose I could fibreboard and paint but it might look strange on a blockwork room.

Cheers
JACK

You need 30 minutes fire resistance so will need to board it. Plasterboard can be used to achieve this but wouldn't be very durable so something like a silica type board would be more suitable.

30mm maximum width for fire foam.

You'll need to fit timber studs and a cement board or plasterboard and skim

You can get away with 12.5mm plasterboard and taped joints. Personally I wouldn't use plasterboard the way I use garages.
