Hi,

I have a 2 gang 2 way switch outside the kitchen that I'd like to replace. This switch works the kitchen ceiling lights and the hallway light (the hallway light also has another switch by front door so both can turn hall lights on/off).

Can anyone please advise what's supposed to go where on the new switch?

I've looked in the wiring diagrams section but struggling a bit.
I'm presuming the two "COM" on the old go to the "COM" on the new, but what about the 2RED, 2BLUE and 3Yellow?

Apologies for posting full size image. Didn't think thumbnail helped with detail.

All help appreciated.
Thanks
Si

Hi Bernard,

Thanks, drawn like that makes it easy to follow.
Just tested. Kitchen works fine however strange things happening with the hall lights.

Used to be able to turn the hall light on/off from either set of switches (these by kitchen and others by front door).

Now if I turn them on with this switch I can turn on/off by front door, but if I turn them off at this switch I can't turn on at front door.

Any suggestions?

Thanks
Si

Hi,

Thanks, yup that looks fine.
Presume yellow and blue are the right way round as per Bernard's diagram.

Reason I ask is on the other switch they are the other way round (far right of photo)

Should work properly then.

Many an hour wasted because of faulty new items.

You could try putting the R, Y & B in the other switch.

Right,

This is a fun game :)

As you suggested EFLimpudence, swapped left switch for right and the hall works correctly. Kitchen doesn't work at all now :(.

For the kitchen should it be COM and 2 or COM and 1 (as it only has the one switch)?

Hi,

Apologies for any confusion here.

So I swapped the kitchen and hall wires over.

Kitchen on left, hall on right. Hall now works correctly, kitchen doesn't. Although kitchen did before I swapped.

Sorry Bernard, clearer photo below.

Does this suggest the left hand "2" is knackered?

Okay so moving from 2way to 1way works. However I want the kitchen switch on the left (as you use it) so as you say, back to the shop.

Thanks folks for all the help.
