Big job losses since the outbreak.

Expect a big increase after October.

Expect much governmental disdain when the furlough ends.

No deal Brexit and a law breaking UK government, joy.

Roll on 2021.:)

You might be secure and bulletproof (as you have previously posted), but others are sh!tting themselves for their futures.

Not really the place for a smiley in my opinion, even if you think it is for the fall of Bozza's lot.

Especially when those still in work either follow the rules and "stay at home" when they get the inevitable symptoms, or "get tested" (which actually means "stay at home anyway, because you'll never get a test and result back any quicker anyway").

My sister and I have given quite a few things from my Dad's house to some small local charities, even the food in his cupboards.
I see people on local Facebook groups that lost their jobs back in April......one particular one was a couple, both lost their jobs, have a new baby and live in rented house.

I am really worried about what's coming down the tracks, so many people now live one or two paychecks away from having no food and no rent money and there is no safety net in this country now. Universal credit is a system run on "computer says no" strategy. Inhuman, horrible.

and there is no safety net in this country now.
Cobblers. The 'safety net' is the reason why so many risk their lives by crossing the channel in a dinghy to get here. BTW what’s your definition of a 'safety net'?

Typical vindictive DIYnot thread, and the Labour party would have done better, how ?

They maybe wouldn't (regards Covid).
Brexit will always be regarded as a Tory badge of shame. As Notchy said, what a sh it time for a no deal brexit and lying untrustworthy PM.

Perhaps Brig missed this bit...

2021 may herald a new PM, and sensible diplomatic discussions. You never know.

The problem is that the UK economy was more exposed to a lockdown as we are more reliant on the service sector - this has been due to policies over the last 40 years which have increased the pace of deindustrialosation and replaced those jobs in the manufacturing sector with those in the service sector.

Labour are not in power but its always the retort from the RW that it will always be worse under them. Which shows you know the current reponse is poor but instead you comfort yourself with hypotheticals - not really a strong argument is it.

Brexit is the badge of honour - it's why they won a stonking 80 seat majority. Lies help you win and people would rather believe the lie than admit they were conned.

You have the confidence of a house all paid for and money in the bank, you dont realise the underlying nagging stress that exists for people that have no personal safety net, to be honest I dont either from a personal level, but I do know people who do.

There really isnt a safety net for people these days -imagine having a terminal illness and being told by a PIP assessor you are fit to work.
imagine you are a veteran soldier with PTSD and on a long waiting list for mental health treatment.
imagine you live in rented accommodation and you are on a zero hours contract.

Just think about it please.
