Hi guys,
I'm not a spark but still forgive my dumbassness.
I'm wiring a light in the garden.
Power cable from house: brown, blue, yellow/green. Fine, I get that.
Power cable from lamp: red, brown, blue. The red and blue have got a white wire on each.
What is that all about?.....
Please help before I go bang.

Is this not a low voltage system?
Where a transformer lowers the 240v down to a safe level?
Like 12 volts?

I would say the lamp also has a PIR sensor, ( but I might be wrong )

From house......PIR...........Lamp ( ignore the .... they are needed to space out the text )
BROWN---------BROWN
BLUE----------- BLUE------WHITE
......................RED-------WHITE

If there is no terminal for Earth in the lamp then put it into a terminal block.

The PIR connects the RED to BROWN to turn the lamp ON

I almost understand. Probably now 50% likelihood of death by electrocution.
There is indeed a PIR but the connections aren't separate.
I've just connected the mains as shown below, plugged it in....and blew the main fuse.
Still confused.....

Is the garden wiring/lamp protected by an RCD in the house?

Brown from house to the terminal with Brown from lamp
NOTHING to the terminal with Red and White from lamp
Green/Yellow from house to the terminal which has no connection from lamp

I think I did as you said -
4 terminal house connector connected to 3 terminal lamp connector:

1. Blue from house to the terminal with Blue and White from lamp
2. Brown from house to the terminal with Brown from lamp
3. Red and White from lamp to 3rd blank house terminal
4. Green/Yellow from house to nothing (lamp has only 3 terminals)

So I did this and the lamp works, but unfortunately other lights in the house started buzzing. God knows why. I've switched the lamp off for now.
I think I'm down to maybe 10% now. Hanging in there.

Thought your earlier diagram had a connector block with a 4th connector - just wire house Green/Yellow to this; as you say it has no counterpart on the lamp connector.
