Ok this is for mum. Who will get a subsidised install cause of a gov scheme. The guy doing survey said glow worm navien vaillant or WB. So we gonna select navien. I understand navien ncp come in 34w.. does this come in 1:10 modulation?

No, for reasons I've never quite understood, the 34kW is only 6.6:1 with a minimum output of 5.1kW, whereas the 40kW is 10:1 with a minimum output of 4.0kW. The 40kW should therefore be a bit more efficient

Does that follow. ?

At the low output end of the modulation range the efficiency could be less than the efficiency at the high output end of the modulation range. Or it could even be the other way round.

Ok the guy has been. My mum has a old boiler. Which has a copper pipe outside draining into drive. However we was told by other fitters this needs to be changed so it goes into a drain. However the person who came today said it’s fine...

Or you could be a Google warrior who doesn't know what he's talking about...

It's a bit close to the ground - if it's dripping in the Winter and freezes it could potentially block the pipe with ice, leading to a dangerous situation

Or I could be a friend of a chap who designed heat exchangers for a variety of industrial applications.

Or you could, equally, be a thoroughly irritating individual who should stick to redesigning 3 pin plugs and doorbells instead of spending day after day poking your ill-nformed nose into things you've just researched on a well known search engine.

Why was it suggested by some other Instalers that under new regulation. Given I didn’t have a drain nearby. I need a pump to take it up wall into the garage void and down behind the washing machine into the waste?

I am am edging towards the ncb 40kw. (The scheme we have access to don’t cover intergas) however only think is it’s only 7 years. WB life style has 12 years, but I presume you never mentioned this due to its lack of/poor open therm support?

I'd take the Navien over a WB for many reasons, zero OT support being one of them. 7 years is still a long time for a warranty, and for most people more than long enough to forget to get the boiler serviced on its due date, rendering the warranty invalid anyway. Having said that, if you fit a Navien with their new smart controller they'll give you 10 years

Its copper and can't be used for condensate drain.

I’m probably not phrasing my self properly. A previous 2 installer said would need to condensate with a pump to a drain pipe as we didn’t have a drain nearby. While the recent installer said we didn’t (and we can just use existing drain off point- changing it to plastic) - not sure why he said this when I thought condensate pipes had to be near a drain or limestone
