Right, I took my car to the MOT today and guess what, IT PASSED first time around for the third year in a row !
I am fed up of certain people trolling every time I post for help on my car , one person comes here to troll every single time on my threads he never offers help or advice but comes to my threads to tell me car is a death trap yet cannot provide a reason why he call it as such .
If my car was as bad as he false claimed it would not be passing the mot tests first time around year on year with minor advisories .

To that individual here is proof my car is in good condition so quit the bs !

here is the test paper to confirm it had indeed passed and to prove I'm not lying

And guess what, I've been the person repairing my own car ( basics ) so quit calling me a rubbish diyer as well !

Thank you John! Yes I agree the advisories are not as bad as they could have been for a 13 year old car so I think it has done well.

Regarding the cutting out, it hasn't repeated it since and it's been over 320 miles or so. The car has been driving and starting as normal, no power loss no smoke no unusual sounds and no fuel leaks or fuek smells and no fault codes return.

When it first happened I got a strong smell of fuel and the engine instantly cut out within 3 seconds or so of me smelling the fuel and I saw fuel under the injectors area and it had a code for all 4 injectors open circuit. As soon as I restarted the engine it drove as normal with no problems and no fuel leaking until it happened again 50 miles later, then again 150 miles later and now it has done over 300 miles and it has not happened again. It is certainly an intermittent fault as once I restart the engine right away everything is back to normal.

I was told it was running far too good to have open injector probpems, especiually on all 4.

If it’s been behaving for hundreds of miles that makes it even more difficult!

I understand it is baffling , I ma very wary when driving because it may suddenly cuut out I don't feel it's out of the woods yet although it has not had the problem repeapted in over 300 miles I know I have to be prepared to act if it does suddenly cut out, because it gave no warning other than a strong sudden fuel smell and within 3 or so seconds the engine stops dead only to start straight up again and drive as normal . As I drive I drive on quiet roads and allow cars too close behind to overtake.

I work in retail atm but what I really want and hope to do is persue an airline career as a pilot, perhaps at British Airways.

Yes it may take a lot of effort but it doesn't take as long as might think to qualify and get certified , 2 years is quite normal from a complete beginner to commercial pilot depending on how many flying lessons one takes and depending on how fast one can learn etc

What advice do you have for me ?

You know what happened last time I took my car to a garage.
And besides and as I said, I must be doing something right with my repairs seeing as my car has passed another not first time around
 
I agree with you about doing as much as you can on your cars yourself.
However, I also know where there's a limit to my mechanical understanding and/or physical fitness required to do a job.
I would never do a full suspension replacement for example because of the time it takes, the bending, the hammering etc.
As I don't have a garage to keep cars dismantled for weeks on end, I let mechanics do their work.
Of course you need a good mechanic which is hard to find nowadays.
Differently, if it's a matter of a couple of hours or even half a day repair or maintenance, I'll do it myself.
So, carry on and don't bodge things; know your limits.
Good luck with your pilot career.

A friend of mine went on a "fast track" course to be a commercial pilot and he funded it with money left for him by his grandmother. New Zealand is were he went and stayed for over a year. He did PPL then light commercial then upgrade to twin engine then upgrade to "type" which was the A320. Don't know your plans but New Zealand is probably one of the best places although I feel you will need to wait until the airlines recover as there is no demand for new pilots at all at the moment given the downturn caused by Covid 19
