Then they chucked a load of wings at bogus companies.....that surprise surprise lead back to a Tory mate.

Government told to ‘come clean’ over Covid deals by spending watchdog

"The government was not transparent about suppliers and services when it scrambled to award £18bn worth of Covid-19 contracts, the public spending watchdog has said.
The National Audit Office (NAO) found firms recommended by MPs, peers and ministers' offices were given priority.
It said there was inadequate explanation of key decisions, such as why particular suppliers were chosen.
Nor was enough done to address potential conflicts of interest."

Absolute rubbish.
At the time the local leaders, MPs etc were saying use local authorities to do test and trace.
Local companies that could manufacture PPE were not given the opportunity to supply - the Hospitals were forced to source centrally
The testing of people could have been done using local labs but again the Government decided to use a megalab.

The Dispatches reporter being told that used tests sent to to Randox for analysis are sometimes not unpacked properly and accidentally discarded with cardboard packaging waste. An expert who viewed the footage and has run an NHS pathology lab for 10 year said that not only does this mean people not getting their test results, it would present a contamination risk to waste handlers. He added, “We would be shut down if we performed that way.”
Everytime there was a local solution the Government decided it was better to centralise so they could control who gets the contracts.
At a time of a pandemic and people dying they were more interested in making a quick buck.

It's worse than that. At a time of a pandemic and people dying the Government saw this an opportunity to make a quick buck by handing out contracts to their associates.
If the National Audit Office is sayng there was a fast track lane for Mps and contacts - then you can rest assured these were not given due dilligence.

There's a particular type of parasite that takes advantage of whatever the latest government scheme is, setting up dodgy companies and claiming all the subsidies.
For the last few years it's been PPI, now it's PPE.

Your even dumber than I thought. The contract was given to Saiger an American who subcontracted the work to the Spanish guy.
