Hello,
I'm installing a kitchen with integrated appliances next to each other. There's no way round this as it's quite a small kitchen.
Do I need a panel between them to support the worktop or can the worktop rest on the appliance as they're the correct height?
Its a dishwasher and washing machine next to each other and fridge and freezer next to each other. The worktop would be supported at either end with a unit or panel/wall bracket.
The panels between are suprisingly expensive and I think they make the kitchen look worse so I don't want them if theyre not needed.
Thanks

Certainly not on the washing machine, as it vibrates in use. That vibration could be transmitted to the fridge and turn your milk into butter! :D

I am about to install a new kitchen at home where I will need to bridge a clothes drier and a washing machine side by side, right next to a wall. Above them, against the wall will be a 300mm wide pull out larder unit.

The solution I have arrived at is to rout grooves in the underside of the worktop to accommodate 50 x 25mm steel tube ladder frame, with the 50mm vertical, which will be painted out black. This frame will project approximately 30mm below the bottom of the 38mm thick worktop. I have worked out that I can just squeeze the two machines in beneath this frame with about 5 or 6mm to spare above them.

I got the idea from having installed back bar units in restaurants and pubs (in the past when I was an interior fit-out) where steel tube ladder frames, painted black, were sometimes used to support 18mm thick veneered MDF worktops, occasionally with an added down stand at the front to hide the steelwork.

If I find the steelwork obtrusive I might just fix a rip cut of decor panel to the underside of the worktop - it would look a bit like a shallow pelmet (at only 30mm depth) and match the doors.

A local steel fabricator has quoted me £50 for the welded steel frame, provided it comes unfinished and that I don't mind grinding out the joints (basically run an angle grinder with a flap wheel across the welds), in part because it would be used as an "apprentice piece"

Dishwashers usually secured to bottom of worktop so could provide support.
