Roald Dahl family sorry for author's anti-Semitic remarks

Why do the family feel they have to apologise for the actions of a family member long dead?

Unless it's something to do with profit.

I've met him briefly once, bit of a cantankerous so and so.

I don't understand the need for the family who I assume don't hold the beliefs having to apologise unless they are implicated because they benefit from his estate.

I wouldn't be expecting an apology from the children of German Soldiers for the War.

Where do you stop?

Under the modern definition of anti semitism everyone will be guilty of anti semitism at some time or other.

Shakespeare has been accused of anti semitism because he created the character of Shylock, Charles Dickens likewise is now an anti semite because of Fagan, even George Orwell isn't spared from the accusation of anti semitism.
It is all a load of ****** IMHO.
