Boss connector too big for 110mm waste

Hi,

I have a 40mm waste going into our 110mm soil stack. The connection has failed and i want to replace it.

Ive been to the plumbers mechant and got a new 40mm boss connector. The opening on the stack is 60mm, but that is the exact size of the boss connector and so it will not fit in the hole.

i cant see any other sizes. am i missing something really obvious here?!

You need to keep the same manufacturer for all of the boss connector/boss adapter bits. The sizes are not universal and vary by make. Any pictures?

I guess that explains it!

Here is a photo. It's all been painted white so not gonna be easy finding the manufacturer name.

Is that the roof above? What is above your pic, soil pipe wise? Any way of replacing all of the boss branch?

No not the roof, well it is the roof to the kitchen which is extended out the back. The soil travels further up the wall to the side of the bathroom.

The branch off the soil to the left is the sink waste, and thst is the joint that has failed. The branch pulls away, but the existing boss is pretty stuck in place!

Haha good point. I'm assuming the hole is the same size as the blocked off ones on the other sides. It won't fit in them and look the same.

the pipe fits on the boss fine, but the boss doesnt fit into the soil pipe opening!

Old Osma soil pipework possibly. Either way, these weren't designed for the modern rubber boss adaptors, they accepted the plastic boss connectors, which were glued into the boss. Terrain did a similar system. Best bet is to try and seal the pipe back into the boss with some suitable sealant. If that doesn't work, you're possibly looking at a bit more major surgery and grafting a new boss pipe into the stack to replace the knackered part.

Ok thanks - im going to try and spuerglue the old pipework back in place then use CT1 to seal it all up!

Could, carefully, drill a small hole in the top, and put a (small ) self tapping screw in to hold it together, then seal it up, Don't go mad, as it may well be quite brittle now, and will split very easily if you get too carried away. I'd allow the sealant to cure before discharging any water.
