Hi everyone the previous owner of my house installed a bodged extractor fan how do I install a new one correctly, the current fan works but is not screwed into the tiles on the inside of bathroom and it seems to push air into a cavity in the bricks there is no tube, also the outside is an air Rick not the proper extractor fan flaps? Any help would be much appreciated thanks

That was installed in a one time air-vent. They are usually lined with thin strips of wood, to isolate the vent from the cavity, but it looks as if they may have been taken out/broken.
