Rolling correctly and stains

Basically, start of job, go in and mist coat all new plaster in one go. Not with vinyl either. Not one wall at a time, do it all! Every new plastered wall. Then two coats of main colour.

I will from now on. Just one mist coay I'll use contract. I just hope the vinyl doesn't crack! The guy from technical said it wouldn't if watered down and plaster dry, but I'll follow your advice from now on. I guess you'd stick vinyl over the mist coat if 2mm skimmed and now dry plaster was now 3 weeks old though

Once the mist coat is on you can stick anything on it!

This photo is my mist coat. Watered it down and put on thin. Does it need to completely cover (no holey) bits before eggshell or vinyl?

Is that holes in the plaster where the paint has sunk in or is it a miss? Is it like that all over? What are you rollering it with?

sunk in I guess I haven't missed a spot on the ceiling. I think it just dries then goes like this. I added lots of water to paint maybe

Has the ceiling been painted with PVA or similar before you started?,i had a similar problem on a ceiling at home, but just in one spot, and had to sand it down before painting.

Dont think so, just new plaster. I dont think PVA should be used

It's almost like there's grease or something on it. If you roller over those Mark's do they disappear or come back?

Go away with another roll of contract. I guess just rolling thinly. I wasnt sure if contract/primer had to completely cover before vinyl or eggshell. I've been touching it up (not 2nd coat on whole wall) before vinyl.

Do u ever just leave final coat as contract and not bother with vinyl? I've done this on ceiling and kitchen walls

You can do but it can have a tendency to chalk if lent against or it may shine if brushed against!

I've done the contract coat in contract and will now go over in vinyl. As it's the same colour (putty white worry I may miss bits. Will this show? I'll add a bit of water to vinyl too. Will it be safer just to leave the walls in contract. Just give it a second coat of contract

I notice my cutting in in white contract in ceiling - it still looks a bit dark. Do I just need to go over it again? Can't get mini roller that close I guess to cover it

A 2nd coat of the colour will be fine. In the kitchen or areas that may get brushed against I'd recommend a kitchen or easycare paint that can be washed.
How many coats has the ceiling had?

The ceiling has one or two coats of white contract, shall I just paint over it again? It's the cutting in which is still dark.

Regarding walls which are contract in putty white, if I go over this in vinyl in the same colour I worry I may not cover all the contract. The colour is exactly the same but if I put top coat in vinyl and mist coat is in contract, will the difference in sheen stand out? Shall i Play it safe and just do 2nd coat of contract and leave it?

Mist coat won't make any difference to top coat as long as it wasn't vinyl watered down!
What is the make of your paints? Ceiling and walls. Please put a picture up.
Also have you already bought the vinyl paint?
