Do you believe that extra terrestrial life exists?

I know enuff about physics to know that we know nothing about physics. I know enuff about the universe to know that we know nothing about the universe.

I used to think that the only truth that we can prove is up is up, left & right, & down is down. Then you get into things like chaos theory & fractal math.

We think we know everything & there is nothing left to discover. We know nothing.

The only truth I have found so far, is you were born on one day & one day you will die . . . And flat roofs leak.

I can chew the cud with some of the greatest minds this world has ever produced, but I cannot bear to talk with folk who have closed their minds & deny that 'anything' is possible, because we simply do not know.
I sometimes think about this. We are convinced of certain things, speed, distance, time etc through science and its findings. However, for all we know, our entire universe (as defined by the scientific community) might be the size of a grain of sand in a proverbial beach of universes and the beach of universes might be the size of a grain of sand in another beach of universes.

We don't know for sure, we don't know why the groups are separating at a rate that's accelerating. Observable universe is about 46.5 billion light years radius sphere. It's not "observable" in that we have detected things out that far; but is set by our current understanding of physics and the speed of light. Any object farther away from us than light could travel in the age of the universe (estimated 13.7 billion years) simply cannot be detected, as nothing could have reached us yet.
So are you meaning that we genuinely can't know how big the universe really is?

Is that scientifically plausable diy meaning we genuinely have no way of knowing how big the exact universe is?

I believe aliens exist, but i don't believe any have ever been anywhere near or planet.

They're like ghosts, people never see them while drinking coffee on the morning, always at night, when it is dark and people are sleepy....

I find it funny that people mention flashing lights in the sky, if they came all this way - they wouldn't need any lights. Their intelligence would be far superior than to have a light for guidance.

There is definitely unexplainable forces at work in the world beyond our understandings.

To me, science deals with theories based on research and calculations, it doesn't deal with irrefutable facts in the true sense of that word.

Was that the offending post that got you banned for a week? Cripes I never would have believed you could get banned from Facebook for saying something like that?

Yeah that was it. Obviously the person adjudicating it must have been American and was offended. Americans do love a bit of feeling offensed

Is the universe infinite and ever expanding or is it finite and measurable?

If the universe was infinite and static, then the night sky would be totally white from the light of an infinite number of stars.

If the universe was infinite (static or not), then there would be an infinite number of earths, with an infinite number of Bobby Dazzlers.......:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

No.

Although the universe is infinitely large, and contains an infinite number of stars, it is not yet infinitely old.

So the light from all the distant stars has not yet had time to get here.

Is there such a concept as "infinitely old" in existence? If you were infinitely old it would mean you were constantly getting older and this would never reach an ending so therefore "infinitely old" cannot exist as a concept

Your premise is incorrect, if a universe is truly infinite, ( it's not),then it must have existed for an infinite amount of time.

It could not have spread to infinity, in the time it is believed to have existed.

The Universe is believed to be FINITE in size, and is still expanding, (that is current theory)

In the words of the song, "we might as well look for intelligent life out there, because there's bugger all sign of it down here" (Python)

As to Alan Godfrey and his UFO, I've read his accoun, and I used to know someone (now deceased) who was in the Todmorden police at the same time as him: so all I will say is that they don't call the area Happy Valley for nothing!
