I have an external wall (dormer) which is plasterboard on top of 25mm cellotex over the normal timber studwork.
I want to fasten shelf brackets to the wall. If it was an internal stud wall (without the cellotex layer) it would be easy as all I have to do is locate the studs (got a stud-finder that does that), and screw through the plasterboard into the timber. But with this wall I've also got to go through the 25mm of cellotex before getting to timber.
Is there a certain type of fixing I should be using that puts support between the plasterboard and the timber? I know I can use CoreFix if it was a masonry wall behind the cellotex, but don't think that would work in this situation.
Of course, with the cellotex, my stud finder (Franklin Sensors) is struggling to also find the studs, but if I find one I can find the rest as they're all 400mm apart (centre to centre).
Any advice gratefully received.
