Boiler Issues - Advice Needed

My central heating system and combi boiler is only a year old

However, over the past couple of weeks my guest who is occupying the property complained of the following

1. Central heating system started making a loud humming sound. The sound persisted so long, even the neighbour came out to complain. The noise never came back after that day

2. Today there was no heating and hot water. The boiler had the following error code e 125 and the pressure was at 1.5 bars

So I reset the boiler and it is working again.. but for how long?

Can anyone advise on the best course of action to mitigate this happening again? Surely the components in the boiler are not failing?

The brand of the boiler is Main

E125 suggests a circulation fault, with it making a noise sounds like pump failure or perhaps a blockage in the system. You say the heating system is one year old, if this is all new pipework and radiators, I’d suggest the pump and get Baxi (Main) out under warranty.

I'll give Main a call and see how i get on

Ironically, I usually get Vailliant boilers installed due to their reliability..

However on this occasion, the gas engineer persuaded me to buy Main because he's 'fitted hundreds of them without issue and he swears by them'.

Also, i just realised that i got the boiler fitted slightly over a year ago (1yr 4 months) and i haven't had an annual service yet.. Will the manufacturer try to sherk responsibility?

In my defense, when the boiler was fitted, it was used very sparingly whilst the renovation took place, so in terms of milage it's about 9 months old

Quite possibly, however they may overlook it if they service it?

But every boiler manu states that you MUST have it serviced and recorded every 12 months, so make sure you get another brand next time , and guess what when you dont get it serviced ????

Do you have TRV's? Had a WB boiler in a property the Other Half was renting, it wailed like a Banshee at times. Landlord wouldn't be told, until the neighbour rang him one day to complain. He rang my Partner who told him it was the boiler and now would he believe her?

I think it was the cheap TRV's he'd had fitted, some of which were on the return, and they didn't like it.

What makes you think it's an issue with the boiler rather than an issue with the system? Could be that the system wasn't flushed properly on installation, and the boiler would be fine had that been done

Take a water sample and get it tested.
Then look at piping.

Update:

The engineer replaced the Pump and basically told me to see how I get on.

He said that the system and boiler was very clean.

Interestingly, I paid for a Baxi service but the engineer never touched the magnetic filter and he asked me to bleed my rads

I think it was the cheap TRV's he'd had fitted, some of which were on the return, and they didn't like it.

I have Drayton RT212 TRV's. Not sure whether these are considered as cheap TRV's

At least one TRV appears to be on the return

Where do you take the water sample for testing? and what sort of information could they tell me based on the sample?

Not sure if it helps, but as mentioned above, the water in the system is very clean/clear.

Perhaps it's my own bias.

I always go for Vailliant boilers and i've not had one issue in 7 years. Purchased a main which was installed just over a year ago, but has been in actual operation for less than 8 month and already i'm seeing issues

But like you said, maybe the system wasn't flushed properly.

Is there a way to confirm whether this is the case? or would one need to simply pay for a power flush?
