Just watched a clip of Parliament.
An amendment to the FTA legislation was proposed. When the FTA legislation drafts were issued, parliament would have the right to vote on any deal that the government proposed. Same as the EU, the USA etc.
However it was removed before being put before Parliament so an MP suggested an amendment to reinstate Parliament's scrutiny of any FTA.
The Tories voted against this, so it was defeated and now the Government can, without the scrutiny of Parliament, sign any FTA they wish. Even when we were in the EU, we had a say.

"TAKING BACK CONTROL"

"TAKING BACK CONTROL"

It is taking back control.

The executive have taken back control from democracy.

What a shame Biden got in and scuppered their USA trade deal plans

I'm sorry but you're talking nonsense. Outside of the EU trade deals and International Treaties have always fallen under Royal Prerogative (thank God). Were it any other way, we'd end up like the EU, which I believe is something we're trying to get away from. If we operated like the EU, we'd have half the number of trade deals we have, and perhaps more importantly, we'd have half the number of people vaccinated that we do.

And that my friend is what is known as taking back control, non use of capitals intended, makes one look desperate.

Biden is actually an Anglophile or he used to be.
All the ****** about being 'Irish' is for domestic consumption back in America.
Interesting video of him from the time of the Falklands war.

Wasn't there a relaxation of tariffs with the US announced today (tariffs resulting from the eu airbus boeing argument) thus paving the way for commencing trade deal negotiations next year?

Maybe I mis-read it.

What - with the democratically elected legislature having oversight, input, the right of veto?

Blimey - we couldnt have that, could we.

But not democratic control.

Perhaps youd like Parliament done away with altogether? No more elections? But lots of control.

Dont trust the USA!

They allow their democratically elected legislature to be closely involved in trade negotiations and to have to approve any deal at the end.

You think that that is an undesirable way to carry on, so logically you must believe it produces undesirable outcomes.

I think Britain may get a better deal from Biden than would have been the case under another Trump administration.
Unlike Trump i think Biden isn't a man to hold grudges.
Although having said that, i sort of miss Trump, he was one of a kind, thank God.

But he may be an honest man who will always dislike and never trust one who lies and cheats and breaks agreements.

And there ladies and gentlemen you have it in a nutshell.

No trade deal with Australia because the Green Party will veto it.

No trade deal with the USA because the Labour party will veto it.

Cease all trade, it's unfair.

Free houses of the highest standard for all 'illegals' and as much money as they want.

2 hours minimum for everyone on their knees everyday in honour of black people.

Ban all current affairs/news programmes that don't promote the above agenda.

**** me what a world you're wishing on future generations, shame on you.

Only if the Green Party had a majority in Parliament, which would give them a democratic mandate, and if the deal was a bad one by their standards, standards which the democratic majority believed in, which is why they elected them.

Do you not approve of democracy?

And do you not understand that Parliament should be involved in shaping the deal, so it would be one they were expecting, and were OK with? Or is that too democratic for you?

--when has what anyone else thinks or says makes any difference to what the ex london mayor does or thinks ??
he is a self serving egotist with little or no concern for what others think about what he does or says as long as his freinds are looked after usually in an advisory role or other non committal way to be rewarded without possible need to be accountable for there actions including value for money or appearing to be in general morally correct and above reproach for there connection or actions ??
