Double insulated light fitting

Hello

I have a double insulated light fitting and it’s come with a horrible white connector block (pictured).

If I were to replace that connector with a couple of wago 221s and put them inside the black box pictured would it still be double insulated?

It seems fine, but I like to worry.

If you like to worry perhaps you should worry about making changes that might affect the warranty. What is wrong with the white connector block? Have you asked the manufacturer why they fitted something that you believe is horrible even though you can’t see it in service?

Sorry, horrible wasn’t particularly helpful.

I more meant I find them fiddly, and they don’t seem to grip particularly well. When the fitting arrives the ends have a metal crimp on them which of course is lost when the drop of the fitting is shortened.

I suspect the reason the manufacturers fit them is that they’re cheap

Undoubtedly correct.

I don't see what difference fitting Wagos would make.

Undoubtably correct... however. I can’t see a way to shorten the wire without cutting it.

You don't have to do this. I leave all the flex on and stuff it in the void. Then if they want to reposition the fitting in a different house/ room, the length is still there.

Thanks for your reply. I’d never really considered not cutting the cable but you make a good point about just stuffing it into the void.
