I live in an area with hard water and have recently had to remove/clean/service both of our click-clack type plugs. They have only been place for 4 years old. I don't want to be doing this every 4 years, and suspect that living in a hard water region is the cause. (Although happy to be educated on this.)

Is there another type of plug that is more suitable for hard water? (Apart from the obvious plug on a chain.)

Is a flip top type like this less likely to seize up? https://www.bellabathrooms.co.uk/rak-fliptop-slotted-basin-waste.html

I said before... Get an easy clean click Clack. The whole mechanism lifts out of the plug hole and can be cleaned or changed.
Put some limescale remover down it every 3 months.
