We're off to Hampshire on Monday for a mini break. Apparently it’s going to be ****ing down. Oh well…..

Last years holidays were Spain, Spain, Norfolk, Spain, Peak District. All cancelled

This year so far - Jersey (cancelled), Bath, Hampshire, Lincolnshire, Norfolk, Spain, Peak District.

One or two are awake. Unfortunately with the majority, it's easier to fool them, rather than to convince them that they're being fooled. Bit like on here.

Heard it all before, boringly so - you are the only one in-step, everyone else is out of step.

It’s good there are people booking holidays and getting the industry going, but they shouldn’t complain when it goes wrong.

Going Suffolk is the safe sensible thing to do. I'll be in Norfolk (again:confused:) in a couple of weeks

............... it's not just about a virus. It's about curtailing your freedoms, modifying your life. But the lemmings called me and a couple of others 'nutters' as we tried to warn you about unthinkingly abandoning your freedoms for the common good (isn't it always for the common good?).

Well, get used to the new normal, annual hols in damp Southend or Weymouth.

Your horizons have just been lowered, and you actually wanted it to happen.

What would you have had the mass population do? Refuse to be vaccinated? Refuse to work (strike) until all demands for a 'no restrictions' policy were met? Be prepared to be arrested by blatantly going against local/UK government instruction/policy?

For the majority, it's nothing to do with 'unthinkingly abandoning our freedoms', it's about trying our best to get through this safely and being considerate about our fellow citizens. Most people have enough to worry about juggling the day to day.

There are also a lot of unknowns if the masses had resisted doing as instructed to 'maintain our freedoms.' I think current UK deaths are circa 130k. Yes there's a side debate about what constitutes a covid death, however I'll use that figure to make my point. If everyone, or the high majority, had refused to comply with lockdown, refused to wear masks, refused to socially distance and refused to be vaccinated, who knows what the number of deaths might have been. Ok, some will no doubt argue deaths would have been lower due to herd immunity etc. It's equally valid to argue deaths could have been higher, significantly so.

In the case of the latter, would we be saying 'well, it's been worth it' simply to maintain freedoms that some perceive are being eroded?

No. Just be aware that there are other posible agendas and that our 'leaders' aren't known for their honesty or lack of hypocrisy. And question EVERYTHING. Don't be lead by the nose because "it's for your own good".

So what you you are saying is - That you don't mind most everyone having the jab, wearing masks and observing the lockdowns - just so it reduces your personal risk of catching the covid and suffering the consequences. I don't think anyone is being lead by the nose, apart from you and the several others refusing the jab and claiming 'freedom of choice' issues as a valid reason. I see it as you simply being selfish.
