I have heard on here that an overrated boiler can give trouble what with it keep switching on and off but I could be wrong.
Info gleened from elsewhereI have heard on here that an overrated boiler can give trouble what with it keep switching on and off but I could be wrong.
Interesting readingI have heard good things about the above, is that correct?
I currently have an old vented 12 kw boiler and have been quoted for a 19kw Vitodens , 100 system boiler.
Would going for the 11kw be ok as they don't seem to do anything in between
Thanks
thanks Muggles
Its the technical dept at Viessman that r saying no difference in 11kw and 19kw so both will work off 15mm feed.
the installer is insisting that 19kw is the correct boiler size regardless of the fact that my current vented boiler is 11k and no heat loss calc done
Interesting , thanks, as regards oversizing boiler , can't the thermostat just be turned down on the boiler
Calculate what size radiator is required in each room and add together to give necessary boiler outputNo Mottie.
No heat loss calculation done, not sure what that involves.
Just thought that 19kw in a flat may not be needed as 12kw was ok before

Can't have open vent boiler , installer didn't reccomend pressurising vented/heat only boiler, he said system boiler best option. Not that I necessarily agree with that but who am I to disagree
On my Vaillant Ecotec plus 18Kw heat only boiler I can set the maximum output. I have it set on 15Kw in winter when I have the heating on but at the moment, only using it to heat the water, I think it’s set on 10 or 12Kw.Not really, the boiler will always want to go straight to full power until a certain temperature is reached only then will it modulate down to a low flame to keep the temps constant.
The thermostat adjusts the temperature, not the powerInteresting , thanks, as regards oversizing boiler , can't the thermostat just be turned down on the boiler
