No advice on the question Bodd, but a similar to in some ways to what I experienced earlier this year.
A friend of mine (for 20 years) passed away from the big C. Started with him having back ache in April, and by the time he was diagnosed to his passing was only 2 weeks in the middle of May.
He had a wife and 4 kids ranging from 12-19.
All very sudden and very shocking. Thankfully he had plenty of life insurance so the family are set financially, but it impacted hugely on the kids to start with. However, with counselling they’re bounced back pretty well, his other half is still adjusting.
Personally, it affected me a bit too. Likely due to the fact it’s the first person of a similar age to me, that I knew well, who had passed away. It made me very aware of my own existence/mortality…and I made a few life changes because of it.
While it’s great you’re there to help your friends family out, there is also no harm and nothing wrong with you taking a bit of time for yourself in light of this awful event.
