Government vote to dump sewage in our waters

If we wanted high standards, we wouldn't have voted for the Johnson government.
I'm pleased to see the Conservative MPs are getting scared by the contempt and hatred their party has triggered. If you look at the Social Media of any Conservative MP with a coastal constituency, you will find their bleating excuses do not hide their fear.

When the bill returns to the Commons again this week, the government may find itself embarrassed over custodianship of the environment just as delegates arrive for the COP26 climate summit in Glasgow.
Over the weekend, a protest in Margate was bolstered by reinforcements from Whitstable along the north Kent coast. Whitstable’s famous oysters have made it a fashionable foodie destination but the sewage pollution halted harvesting this summer after an outbreak of food poisoning."

I am sure it can be easily addressed along with sewer flooding and leakage if we increase the water charges 4 fold, volunteers please step forward.

It was being done prior to brexit, and was being done all the while we were with Europe.
In fact we've been doing it since Victorian times, so to suggest it's a new thing and down to brexit is a little silly.
That said however, I am very annoyed by this news.
Time and time again the government show that there "green" policy is only relevant when they have an opportunity to make money from it.
The environment agency is also clearly not fit for purpose.
Profits before people...
Would it be different with labour in charge??? I don't think so,
I can see the greens getting a much larger share of the votes next time round but only if they can make their policies a little more realistic

So Tory Mps have voted to allow Raw Sewage to be released into the seas and waterways as the companies have a chemical supply shortage due to Brexit.
I can't decide which is a better description - Turd Reich or Stool Britannia. I am sure the Turdbots on here will be defending the Turd party but perhaps this is on stink too far?

Bar some fettling around the edges, no. At a basic level, almost regardless of who's in government, they have the same sh1t to deal with (pardon the pun) with roughly the same amount of our hard-earned to deliver on their bullsh1t and lies ... oops sorry I mean manifesto pledges
Of course, before anyone jumps down my throat, some governments do better than others, but let's be honest, it's always FAR from perfect regardless of who has the keys to no. 10.

However I am in agreement.
It seems the government is fine to lecture the ordinary man to go green, but when it's time to get companies to do so the brakes are put on.... There is obviously a money trail somewhere....

My mate worked in the Beckton sewer works in the eighties. I remember him telling me they used to pump raw sewage into the Thames when the tide was going out. They also used to tow barges full of **** out into the estuary and drop it there.
Our European friends and neighbours are no better. Here's a post I made a couple of years ago.
