Impact of Brexit on economy 'worse than Covid'...

Fruit and veg rotting in fields
rolling shortages of goods in food and other sectors
container ships having to be diverted due to lack of drivers to collect containers
1 million shortage of jobs
Shortage of chemicals to treat water
A customs border inside the United Kingdom breaking the internal market

No it’s not Covid, as these problems don’t exist in Europe

yes it’s a crisis

yeah bottle necks cause the highest inflation rate in 28 years funny how even with bottle necks and brexit UK are not getting anywhere near 28 year old records
That’s right, they are exceeding 28 years

28th Oct 2021:

“The cost of living could rise at its fastest rate for 30 years, the government's forecaster has warned. Its latest forecast says inflation, which measures the change in the cost of living over time, is set to jump from 3.1% to an average of 4% in 2022”

Chris Giles in London OCTOBER 21 2021

UK inflation is likely to rise “close to or even slightly above 5 per cent” early next year, the Bank of England’s new chief economist has warned, as he said the central bank would have a “live” decision on whether to raise interest rates at its November meeting. In his first interview in the role, Huw Pill declined to disclose how he would vote at the BoE Monetary Policy Committee’s November 4 meeting, saying “it is finely balanced”, but he added: “I think November is live.” Although consumer price inflation dipped to 3.1 per cent in September, the BoE has previously forecast it to exceed 4 per cent by the end of the year.

"The UK has been "left behind" according to steel makers after the US agreed to end a trade war over items that also included whiskey and Harley-Davidsons.
President Biden has signed a deal to end tariffs on steel imports from the EU, which were imposed by his predecessor Donald Trump.
But the agreement does not cover exports from the UK, putting British steelmakers at a disadvantage."

I wonder why the US chose to do a deal with the world's largest trading bloc and not a small island off the coast of Europe?

"The US is the second-largest market for British-made steel. But the new deal will put UK producers at a competitive disadvantage compared to European rivals who will be able to ship their products to the US without paying import taxes."

So what happened to those easiest trade deals in history?

That 4% drop in GDP because of brexit is looking a tad optimistic! (n)

There hasn't really been a Brexit, at least not in the way it was envisaged. What we are seeing now is punishment by hostile foreign nations and by treacherous bodies at home.

Britain has many people who like making rules that make life difficult. With the type of Brexit we now have these people have prevailed and shot the country in the foot. With the subsequent covid crisis they shot the other foot too.

When Cameron gave us the EU vote he did not state a planned course of action to take in leaving the EU. This is why he resigned when the leavers won; he hadn't made a plan because he didn't expect us to vote leave.

Britain is now like one of those hostages having been held captive in a cellar for years by a madman, and who finally and very dangerously escapes, albeit naked and starving.

I hate to remind you, but it has been 5 YEARS since the vote and we have had a staunch Brexer Tory government in power to oversee their beloved Brexit. If a bunch of EU hating traitors can't make a fist of it, who can?

WRONG

Germany and UK are suffering global supply chain issues.

only the UK is suffering a crisis.

reason is Brexit.
There is no crisis, just necessary structural readjustment of the economy to Brexit.
You have already been told that.

You have already been told that.

What structural readjustment?

Dont tell me you’ve fallen for the lies about “high wage, high skill economy”

It’s just a slogan…..there is no strategy whatsoever for achieving it. Where is the long term investment in education? Where are the grants for doctors, nurses, engineers etc etc.

By the way there are massive job shortages in low skilled jobs…..is the Tory party going to train British people to be highly skilled…..and then offer them low skilled jobs?

Please can you explain what this “structural readjustment” comprises.

There is no crisis
Yes there is a crisis.

food is rotting in fields, farmers are reducing their crop sizes next year, because they can’t get staff…..meaning UK will be more reliant on EU food imports.

farmers are having to kill thousands of pigs….because of Co2 and Labour shortages

container ships are being diverted to EU ports….because there’s no HGV drivers.

wealthy supermarkets like Tesco’s are offering big pay rises….all great but it’s robbing other sectors of workers. There’s now a critical shortage of gritter drivers

And so it goes on

And you still say “nothing to see here”

To be fair to brexiteers, they did say they would be happy to wreck the economy and ruin people's lives to 'take back control'...

So they'll probably be crying with joy

4% of GDP is about £40bn, and don't forget that loss was at the lower end of the scale predicted before the vote.
(That is of course even before all the personal costs and loss of freedoms in Europe are taken into account)

Compared to the £8bn for membership of the EU...

Brexiteers certainly can't do the maths!

is the Tory party going to train British people to be highly skilled…..and then offer them low skilled jobs?
That's been going on for years...

Because education is a big business...

Saddle 50% of the younger generation with an enormous debt is the aim (in order to line the pockets of a few), and since there aren't anywhere near enough skilled jobs they often do indeed get offered 'low skilled' jobs...

Although I may add that hopefully the 'virus' may have taught most people that the hospital cleaner is skilled as is the surgeon!

I wonder how it works in Europe...

Oh that's right, they invest in people not treat them as cash cows! (n)

This is an article from your favourite comic the Guardian.

It will explain all you need to know
Apparently the British economy grew faster in the decades before it joined the EEC in 1973.

We do not have a conservative government; if you think we do tell me what they have ever done that is conservative.

We currently have an authoritarian, socialist, Blairite pro-EU government that hates the British people and their history.
