accenta g4 intruder alarm

Hi... I repalced the back up battery on the alarm system and it worked fine but all of a sudden the led lights on the keypad are all black squares insted of information like the time and date. when i put in the alarm code it beeps as usual but I can't see any code numbers that have been entered.
any ideas anyone

Power down system completely and then power back up with mains and battery.
If display clears then you are OK, if not then possible faulty display.
Accenta now discontinued .
