Omicron variant caught a cold

I am honestly not an statistician nor an epidemiologist but this pandemic has been going on for around 2 years and people are starting to get fed up with these constant predictions of catastrophe.

Would you rather that there was no mention of it at all, the jabs were never introduced and everyone had just carried on without a care in the world - until it got them?

Yes people are weary of it, but the alternative doesn't bear thinking about. It is constantly in the news, to persuade people to do the right thing.

I have had covid and been double jabbed along with with the booster.
Nothing wrong with sensible Precautions but don't panic.
If the new variant is no more Pathogenic than the previous Delta variant, why the need for more restrictions.

I'm not aware of anyone panicking, restrictions are simply part of the sensible precautions to limit the effects, limit the spread until we have sufficient data to make a more informed decision.

Do you care if you or any of your family need a hospital in the coming weeks?
Will you be happy if the hospitals are stuffed and you're stuck in a queue outside getting worse?
Or if it's your wife with your kid in the queue?

There might never be queues; so few affected with much, and those that are only needing a night in, that hospitals will have no problems over the winter.
It's all down to probabilities, now more than ever.

Are you happy to add to that probability, by risking that you might add to everyone's pain? Which might be your people's pain.

I think we all need to realise it's not going away.

There will likely be many many more variants over the coming years, and it's something the country and the world will just have to crack on with and suck it up.

It's an inevitability more types will come and go, as with flu (don't mistake me as saying covid is just the flu, I am not).

We will lose people and this is unfortunate, and I understand deeply upsetting, but you cannot keep locking the population away, there is many other thing in the world that is not covid and just as serious. (Think of that poor boy Arthur Hughes as an example, where social services weren't doing the visits they should because of covid)

They could reinstate special covid only emergency hospitals again if they believe hospitals are going to be over run.

The best way to stay safe is use common sense and be sensible. A lot of the cases have been from people going out partying on their Xmas parties or going on the lash with their mates.

You quoted my post which was suggesting VInty should accept restrictions. I didn't write anything about lockdowns. Yes lockdowns are to be avoided.
Otherwise I don't disagree with anything you posted there.
(Not sure there are any more staff for Nightingale Hospitals now than there were before, though.)
