Vitamin C / D

I've been proactive since I was diagnosed diabetic 20 yrs ago.

Andy I disagree with you there I had to go to the doctors about 3 times to get diagnosed and sent to hospital with a serious Illness around this time last year. I also ended up going to hospital numerous times and getting misdiagnosed

Fair enough, you both have illnesses and need medicines.

Hypochondriacs are those who take medicines when they are not ill, or go for medical tests when they are not ill.

Ive spent many years reading papers on diabetes cholesterol and statins etc. i dont pretend to understand them all, but I am not one to be fobbed off with data and statistics.

quote (wikipedia)
Lies, damned lies, and statistics" is a phrase describing the persuasive power of numbers, particularly the use of statistics to bolster weak arguments. It is also sometimes colloquially used to doubt statistics used to prove an opponent's point.

i take 5000 ui of vit D everyday. have been for 10 years due to psoriasis.
with your psoriasis it will probably work out right. avoiding sunlight is vital to avoid flare ups. could be a good idea to ask your gp for testing your levels. (y)

I've got a letter here from t'ospital, they forgot to send it in July ....
25-hydroxy vitamin D3 serum : Value 14nmol/L: Flag LOW :Normal Range 50-174 nmol/L

I think I'll pester a pharmacist

.
I used to take glucosamine & CLO for joints but NICE unliked it.
We had a cat which started walking about with his tail strangely horizontal. Told the vet - spondulitis, a spinal joint thing. Glucosamine & cod liver oil, and his tail went up in a week.

another variable to take into account is that vitamin d 3 is fat soluble, a low fat diet will affect the absorption. we are all being told that fat is bad. i've lost 5st with no low fat diet or going to the gym overthe last 4 yrs.....

lets go paleo, nuts seeds fruit root stuff all carbs all fats get turned into fat for hibernating, other mammals still do it nowadays. just because us humans have an opposable thumb movement we think we are smart. the smart humans are coining the masses and killing the minions.

Maybe viagra is a wonder drug created by pharma that cures horizontal tail syndrome in cats? They found a benefit for EFD? Kerching!

Most two words used in scientific discoveries? That's funny!.......

They test my levels once a year. Lack of sunlight is part of my problem. Sunlight makes it much better.

Thought I'd better get a high dose Vit D.
Got a bottle from an indy chemist.
12000 IU liquid-filled capsules.
Looked at NHS site - "Do not take more than 4000 IU in a day".

they dont fruit and veg either, blubber, meat, offal etc etc, very little fibre..... ever single indigenous population of the world had been turned diabetic by the white mans influence of diet over the decades. IE all have become diabetic due to the inlfuence of the 'western' world. sugar refined flour, carbs etc.

how the inuits have never killed themselves due to a high fat diet I will never know.(I do actually) google ancel keys and the 7 nations study, should have been 12 nations , but five didnt fit his theory so he excluded them from his research. Oh and cholesterol! nearly forgot, the experiment was carried out on rabbits which cant process cholesterol, they were overdosed with it and all died....... conclusion was cholesterol is bad. A bit like testing paracetamol on guinea pigs, it worked. Had it been cats, paracetamol would have been declared deadly........ science is great innit?

pit is interesting that we’ve been told for decades that fat is bad, which I seriously think has been partly the cause of the the type 2 diabetes pandemic in this country.

It is carbohydrate and sugar that is bad and makes people fat…..people have been having low fat diets but loaded with processed carbs.

not sure if you're reply was to me.

it seems to be working, as a 'pandemic hypochondriac' I started taking vit d in august 2019 after Dr Malcolm Kendrick recommended it to anyone with recurring chest infections. I've had 2 a year for the last 20 years. BUT, nothing since 2019. anyone interested should watch the youtube vids by chapman and check out calcifidiol (sp) piure vit d given to ICU patients on ventilators with chest infections!

Vit d boosts t cells and b cells which helps fights infections in cells, boosting their performance in reducing the effects of covid etc. the big pharma dont want us knowing this because they cant make money from vit d.

many people think its all conspiracy theories, I suggest they do some serious reading. When these companies dish out crap like thalidomide and drag the court case out for decades, purely because half the sufferers will be dead, to reduce the compensation payout. this just shows how much they actually care and how high their morals are.

they dont give a fook about the patients, its a business!

I think the vitamin D research is interesting, it’s not a miracle cure but I’m sure it may significantly help in regard to lowering effects of Covid.

95% agree. People are very poorly informed on this and the majority would choose something 'low fat' believing it to be healthy, when in fact it is just loaded with sugar instead. Sugar is very bad for us - much, much worse than fat.

PS. we are 5% off because not all (type ii) diabetes is caused by diet and not all people with diabetes are fat.
