Cistern inlet leaking

I have a slow leak on a toilet cistern. It seems to be coming from the top of the flexi pipe that feeds the cistern.

There doesn't seem to be an isolation valve on here. So I guess I would need to kill the mains at the stopcock to work on this?

The main problem, though, is how I would even get to it. The hose seems to go into a small hole in the porcelain and straight into the filling valve. I can't see how I could get a tool into there to unscrew anything. Any ideas?

Yes, if it is mains fed.

The flexi is normally fitted to the fill valve before the cistern is fixed to the pan. You might have to seperate the cistern/pan if you can't access the nut at all.

Turn water off.
Remove the nut at the bottom of flex and remove cistern screw fixings then lift the cistern off.
Buy new syphon and inlet (inlet must have brass thread) Fit.
Fill with water while cistern is sat on bucket or floor. Check for leaks for couple of hours. Put the flexible coupler on. Fit cistern back on.
I always swap syphon and inlet for trouble free toilet for next 10+ years when it's my own and always take cistern off because it's easy and quick vs messing about and having to struggle with leaks or on your back trying to work on it.

I managed to get the cistern off. Easy once the mains is off. The flexi was very loose where it attached the plastic inlet. Came off easily in my hand. I went out to get a new flexi pipe, but nowhere seemed to have a short 150mm one.

So for now I've fitted the old flexi back on and tighened it properly. Doesn't appear to be leaking any more but will keep and eye on it.

I've never turned my mains water off before. When the cistern was off I thought of give it all a good clean, but I have no water. Very annoying not to have isolation valves...

You could always fit one, as you know how to turn the water off

I thought about that. Maybe that grey 90 degree plastic thing can be replaced with a metal one with a valve?

I wasn't even able to find PTFE tape or any sealing compound today. All the plumbing places seem closed until tomorrow. I'll go and ask someone when they are open again.

Line the cistern inside with yoga mat or foam if your taking off again to insulate maybe

You may need to get someone in to replace that grey valve. The grab ring inside will need to be snapped and that means the grey nut needs cut off to get to it.

Once that's done then one of these could be fitted.
