I honestly thought the Canadians had more sense...

Maybe not so much Canadians but truckers

Nevertheless someone is driving the trucks (or not)not even that
most Canadian truckers are vaccinated and their union supports it
the demonstrators are just crazy antivaxxers. Damaging the country. Many of them are not Canadian, and not truckers.
There is nothing unusual about having health checks on people entering one country from another. Canada requires either proof of vaccination, or quarantine.
my Canadian friends in Ottowa strongly object to the crazy antivaxxers, and their crazy felow-travellers, including the ones waving Swastika and Confederate flags.
"Among Canadians over the age of five, 82 per cent are fully vaccinated — one of the highest rates in the world. A recent poll by Abacus Data found that 87 per cent of Ottawa residents want the protesters gone."

UK also has Covid protection requirements for people arriving from other countries. Good thing too.
Remember the Quarantine Hotels?
So what?
It's normal
I don't know.
