How to cover these knots on bannisters

So I had all these knots bleeding through white gloss on my bannisters. I stripped the paint off the knots with paintstripper, scrubbed them with a curly steel scourer a bit and washed them off. I’m planning to paint it all goosewing grey satinwood.

I was going to sand the gloss first to provide key (not sure what grade?), then prime the knots only with Zinsser BIN (twice?) and then go straight over with probably 2 coats satinwood. Does that sound right?

If you Google what your suggesting it sounds like it would work, have you asked Zinsser they are very helpful.

You can of course use knotting solution over the bare knots (I'm old fashioned).

Aluminium primer on mine but it's really gray but a sure thing.

Zinsser BIN maybe your best bet so consider warning some rattle cans for the quick and easy way to apply

As I’m painting them grey satinwood maybe it would make more sense to use the aluminium stuff? What brand do you recommend? I do already have a tin of zinnser BIN though

Any.
Give it a good stir right at the bottom.
I've used dulux and johnstone's but see what you can get in a small tin

What is that?

Knotting solution - a translucent brown solution in a small bottle, you brush it on the bare knots.

A traditional product, still widely used, ideal for people like me too afraid to use the modern alternatives.
