Dover...

The remainer argument is dead. We are where we are
Yes indeed, it is time brexit supporters started taking responsibility for the damage they have inflicted on this country.

Once we have got rid of the pathological liar as PM and this corrupt lying govt, we can get some adults into power who can start talking honestly about Brexit failure.

What you actually mean Lower is: the Brexit argument is dead.

The French not providing sufficient staff to enable British tourists to travel and spend money in their country will only encourage tourists to travel else where
They are now saying increased passport checks will cause delays every weekend over summer.
the problem is brexit.

by the way, tourists won’t travel else where…..Brexit has caused delays at the airports too

Of course the increased checks will take more time.

It might get much worse when biometric passports come in. Then everyone would potentially have to get out their car for checks.

Well I'd suggest that we could help 'our friends' across the Channel. We could help them stop the illegal immigrants when they attempt to sail across the Channel.
Rather than wait for the French warships to escort them to the mid-way point, we could turn them around at that point instead of picking them up and bringing them here.
Oh, the objectors complain that that is illegal so we can't do it.
Was it illegal when the Australians did exactly the same and sent them back to Indonesia? Apparently not, because the Australians don't suffer from trendy do-gooders as do we.
I think we had an agreement in place to do that. We used to help police the border from the French side. But ...

I agree that the Brexit argument is dead. Brexit has happened, its not going to be reversed any time soon, so there is no argument to be had.

Brexit hasn't failed. Our place in the world without being part of the EU is going to take a long time to re-establish and the benefits were never going to be short term. Hopefully with Johnson gone we will have a government who can start realising the benefits of our freedom to operate independently of the EU.

As for the French border staff, its an easy excuse to blame Brexit for their own inaedequate management. We've had the same problems with our own passport control at airports in the UK and its simply down to not providing sufficient resource. On a recent holiday to Croatia, where they want our tourists spending money in their country, passport control was quick, efficient, and the checks took no longer than when we were still in the EU.

You can't blame everything on Brexit no matter how much you may dislike it.

I've been saying that for years. Brexit is a long game. I reckon 5-10 years from when we actually left, not 5-10 years from the vote and the subsequent court cases, protests and whinging, spineless politicians trying to stall the process. Say what you like about Boris, he did the job he was picked to do regardless of the methods he used. He carried out the wishes of the electorate that could be bothered to vote in the referendum. I’ve also said that once that was done, he could **** off for all I cared. Now we just have to get on with it - moaning about will change **** all. FWIW, I think he's clung on too long and should have gone a year or more ago.

"say what you like about Boris..."

Oh Lordy! where to begin....

"End Freedom of Movement!"

"Control the Borders!"

"Take back Control!"

"Hard Brexit!"

Brexers voted for this.

Mottie doesn't care about the damage.

Begin where I did. He carried out the wishes of the majority of the electorate that could be bothered to vote in the referendum. Nobody else could. He did. I salute him for that. I hate him for partying when we couldn’t see our family, friends or dying relatives.

Well, i'd start before he stuffed up the oven-ready deal and remind you of the attempt - the illegal attempt - to prorogue Parliament.

We put off going to France this summer holidays.

Took the girls up to Suffolk for a long week while I work and maybe I'll go Israel or India in January
Very wise. There's no way I would go to France now (I have been in the past) and this mess at Dover must make so many people think the same. I suspect that if and when Brits stop going to France and realise that there are better places to go, the French will eventually realise their mistake!

I don't think that is correct.
A majority voted for the whole UK to remain in the EU.
That majority was only achieved because a substantial number of Unionists voted remain.
Today the vast majority of Unionists are opposed to the Protocol.
As the Protocol not yet been fully implemented, how can anyone know whether they like the Protocol or not.
The answer is to hold an official referendum of the population of NI. Let them decide.
Assuming that the IRA don't police the polling booths, there should then be a true figure to see.

So you'd hand our country over to a foreign power?
I'm relieved to know that you are in a minority.

The sheer number of suckers around on here amazes me. They do have varing degrees though - your a big sucker.

The chunnel choked up yesterday. I wonder why? Travellers and facilities couldn't have anything to do with it. Probably the Russians.
