Floor Joist pitching versus strength

Quick bit of advice please:

Which is stronger (assuming same size joists and span are considered)?

Single joists at 200mm
Doubled joists at 400mm

For some reason I had 200mm single joists specified. Builder doubled up at 400mm to allow more access for water and electric

It will feel stronger under foot.

For someone to specify joists at 200mm centres would be unusual, unless the joists were very small (in depth)?
Or the spans very long?

suspect your right its just amazing what we remember----------------and misremember
