No change there - been like it for donkeys. They've had independence for 200 years, so can't blame the nasty white man. It's just another African run sh*thole. Bit like London really.

PS. Part ex - I can't see your patronising lefty drivel, but feel free to waste your time. You do seem to have lots of it.

Haiti once murdered all of its white population.

thankfully its a bit further than just crossing the channel, or half of them would be flooding into the south east - some of these haitian gangs would give the albanians a run for their money. these are the boys, bet there are some complete nutters amongst them, they would also soon sort out the london knife gangs.

Wow, that's shocking, that black African slaves should kill their 'masters' in order to free themselves!

About 75,000 white French soldiers were killed.
"a dramatic contrast to the more than 350,000 Black people who were killed. Yet it was rare in the nineteenth century to see any acknowledgment of this disparity. Portraying Black people as perpetrators of violence rather than its victims—a tendency that persists in many parts of the world to this day—functioned as a deliberate distraction from the everyday depredations of slavery and the atrocities that both the French colonists and the French army had committed in Saint-Domingue. "

Toussaint Louverture was the son of an educated slave. He acquired through Jesuit contacts some knowledge of French, though he wrote and spoke it poorly, usually employing Haitian Creole and African tribal language. Winning the favour of the plantation manager, he became a livestock handler, healer, coachman, and finally steward. Legally freed in 1776, he married and had two sons. Toussaint was homely, short, and small framed. He was a fervent Roman Catholic, opposed to Vodou (Voodoo). He dressed simply and was abstemious and a vegetarian. Although he slept little, his energy and capacity for work were astonishing. As a leader he inspired awe and adulation.

One of history's forgotten freedom fighters.

He gave the British Army a bloody nose, too. A remarkable man.

Usual racist diatribe from the forum's resident racist.
Spanish ruled Haiti first. then the French, then the Americans. They all showed the Haitians that brute force was the way to rule.
The indigenous Taino had a rich cultural history before the Spanish conquest. Spain decimated the indigenous population, and repopulated the country with African slaves.
Haiti had to pay France about $21 billion ( in today's money) which it borrowed from other countries, adding a further cost to the final bill.
The final payment was made in 1947.
The country has suffered more than 5 centuries of slavery, political instability and corruption.
The latest massacre was in 1937, when about 30,000 Haitians were killed.

Even the UN peace keeping forces can't be trusted. In 2007 the UN peacekeeping sex scandal was exposed.

This has been compounded by multiple natural disasters.
1954 Hurricane Hazel
1994 Hurricane Gordon.
2004 Floods, Hurricane Ivan and Jeanne
2005 Hurricane Dennis
2008 Tropical Storms Fay and Hanna and Hurricanes Gustav
2010 Earthquake. Promised aid not delivered and corruption rife. Followed by outbreak of Cholera. About 10,000 die.
2016 Hurricane Mathew, 200,000 families without shelter exacerbating the Cholera outbreak, Shortfall of International Aid exacerbates the problems.
2020 - 21 Covid lockdowns, creates income loss and food insecurity.
2022 Earthquake.

By comparison, in UK, something like Brexit and Covid and we go through 5 PMs in 6 years. Political instability comes in many forms.
Haiti has had about 6 or 7 leaders in about 50 years, through all those natural disasters.

This from a BBC article on the subject. Ah, the old traits of power, corruption and greed I see ...

Even Haiti's last serving president wasn't safe in his own home. Jovenel Moise was killed by gunmen in July of 2021. Police blamed Colombian mercenaries, about 20 of whom were arrested. But more than a year later, no-one has been tried here for pulling the trigger or ordering the assassination. Human rights campaigners say four judges have come and gone from the case. It's now in the hands of a fifth.

The killing of the president created a power vacuum which gangs have been competing to fill - with help from their friends.

Experts say that armed groups have ties to corrupt political figures - in power and in the opposition. They supply the gangs with weapons, or finance, or political protection. In return the gangs do their dirty work, generating fear, support, or instability, as required.

Well, without diving too deeply into Haitian history and politics, isn't the main issue there that the current President Ariel Henry is widely considered to be behind the assassination of the previous President (and most likely was) and that this illegitimate President is a puppet of the Americans... whereas the people we refer to as "Haitian Gangs" are considered by many Haitian people to be more akin to freedom fighters and rebels looking to overthrow this illegitimate President?

So, unfortunately, there's a very good argument that this is Americas fault and that they are responsible for a lot of he issues which plague Haiti.

More reason why the West should mind their own business when it comes to places like Haiti.

Maybe Suella could do a deal , we ship them our assilum seekers in exchange for borrowing some of their paramilitarys to be our border guards, win win !
