Likely a 32 amp commando socket and a £250 lead inside a garage. But it is unlikely I will down grade to electric at least for a car, I do use an e-bike but the problem with an all electric car today is the same as in the 1920, little has changed in last 100 years.
Both true, but I imagine that without the advance in batteries, no motor and/or gearbox could have resulted in an EV with a particularly useful range, could it?

Still EVs are IMO a poor match if you normally drive locally, but want to keep the flexibility to drive long distances as and when needed, it takes a LONG time to pay off the upfront cost of a "big battery" EV.
A lot of people seem to dislike PHEVs, but they seem to me like for many they would be the best of both worlds. Cheap and conviniant local driving but still retaining all the capabilities of a petrol car if/when you need them.
