Hi everyone.
I have very old UPVC windows in which few units have moisture inside. I decided to change units myslef. To discover thickness of double glazed I had to remove one unit to measure it. The whole procedure I did same way as I saw online. First I removed internal gasket / rubber and than external beading. It was not easy to remove beading but my problem began when I tried install beading back. Because unit is small and outside is cold, plastic is very stiff. On the video I have seen, gentlemen who is installing outside beading first and after he is sticking in back gasket / rubber and job is done and it looks soo easy. Buy when I tried to put all back together unfortunately I couldn't.Always one side was disconnecting from the window frame. My beading has mitres only on shorter beading the longer parts looks like are without mitres. The beading is really solid and stiff, there is no chance to bend it and try to slide it. Inserted glass without the rubber / gasket( like was on the video) is not holding beading in place and because there is a gap betwen glass and beading corners of beading doesn't want to close. Is there any special tools for this task? Any advice will be much appreciated.
Regards.
M

You are nearly there but the internal gasket needs to be fitted last. Warm the last bit of beading up on a radiator until its less stiff. You need to click in the corners then twist it up and push to get the bead to click in...

That top bit of beading has missed the forward profile at the corners, ie you have shoved behind the other beading .

take the rubber seal out the inside then the glass will move back and allow the beading to be moved.
Thanks for your advice. Do I understand correctly to pull out the rubber and then push it back in and the beading will set itself outside? I put the rubber inside out of desperation because I tried everything with this window for 3 hours. The problem is that as you put beading between the glass and this beading there is space betwen and every time beading falls out or does not want to close. Rubber should be inserted at the end from the inside from what I saw in the video. Cheers

Best I can think of is soft foam rubber on the inside held in place with masking tape to provide some pressure against the glass while you fit the outside beading, or phone a friend or if very desperate get married (an extra pair of hands is always very useful).

the internal rubber is the last thing to be fitted, its just a matter of practice , corners in but only the tip of the corner then twist and push up to click the profile in, you're going too deep in.

Thanks, I will definitely try this method. Cheers
