When buying standard types of cable such as T&E, SWA, flex etc do you seek out specific brands? or do you just get whatever your supplier offers and trust them not to stock crap?

As someone making panels & using a lot of tri-rated cable, we used to get all sorts of crap that our supplier sent us and was seen as cheap by purchasing.
Until it was pointed out that cableworld tri-rated was much better for panel wiring as it is a lot more flexible and overall better.

Flex is generally whatever we can get, these days it often turns out to be crappy and not likely to last as long as the older rubber stuff.
SWA is whatever the supplier has - yes we trust them not to send us crap - if they do it goes back.

That's interesting, one of our suppliers used to stock Cableworld and we were delighted when he moved to Clynder.

Clynder cable may be better, I don't know as I rarely take note of the cable make.
