I have a section of the shed that isn’t easily accessible and I want to put storage boxes in here, that I can drag out when required.

The space is 1metre deep, 69cm wide and I’m looking for something around 30cm tall. It could be two boxes.

I can find general purpose boxes but concerned they may crack with the weight of tools, etc. do you recommend something strong enough for this?

Thanks in advance.

Smaller ones are good for heavy tools, as they don't hold so much they are unmanageable.

Reslly Useful are expensive, but stronger than most.

Lightweight stores can go in supermarket crates. I'd say, get the ones with a tight sealing lid to keep out damp, dirt and insects.

Keep them undercover as the plastic degrades in sunlight

I used these for circular saws and drills, etc.

All sorts of sizes available and will take the knocks.
Look out for second hand ones going cheap online if you don't want new ones

I don't like the folding lids, because dirt can get in, and rain if outside.

My recent shed leak has taught me to put tools in boxes with proper lids. Or at least under a workbench.

I would agree that the space stated would suit a couple of really useful boxes. Get some small castors and a sheet of MDF to make a rolling platform.

I use a couple of filing cabinets for my larger tools. I plan to fix some short offcuts of drain pipe to a wall, to store battery drills, nose in first, when I get a roundtuit. For random drill bits, small flat tools, I'm looking for one of those Bisley, shallow, document drawer units. On the workshop rafters, I have a series of magnetic strips, where I store maybe a hundred of my less useful spanners. My better sockets, ratchets, and mechanical tools, live in a rolling mechanics tool cabinet.

Just yesterday got a barging from Morrisons of all places a really big and strong tote carrier for £4

I make use of some of the surplus bags for life, by using them to store 'kits of things' together. I have one hung up in the garage, which has spanner for roof bars, ropes, and those strap things. If I drive off with the roof bars, to pick something large up, I throw bars plus bag in the back. I now also take the bag, for the little trailer I have just bought.

I also have some in the caravan front locker, one for EHU cable, one for drainpipes, one for water hook up hose.

All those plastic boxes in DIY and cheap stores are brittle. Plastic shatters and cracks too easy.
I switch to tote boxes and found them brilliant.

If you stack then only the top one could get water in I guess

Maybe the same thing, but I keep a few of those plastic trays around, the open ones with handle in the middle, compartments either side. I think sold for cleaners maybe. They are great for just popping a few small tools in.
