Hi all

Thanks in advance for any help.

My rear security light kept going on and off, even though nothing was moving.
So I replaced it with a new one and it's doing the same thing!
I replaced the fused spur too, and it's made no difference.

Could it be a power issue? I've got no other electrical problems and I had all my electrics checked about 2 years ago.

Cheers, any help would be appreciated.

It;s supposed to do that when the supply is restored (after being completely off) so it could be a loose wire somewhere.

Does any wiring blow around in the wind?

There's no loose wiring on show, and there was no wind when I changed the fused spur.
It's not near the flue either.

Did you say it's supposed to keep clicking on at first?

Facing trees moving or hot objects.

Cover half the pir window (with black tape) or face down and see if that helps.

Completely Cover window to disprove it’s a power issue.

When I turn off an old fluorescent I’m sure mine sometimes comes on.

I covered the sensor and nothing changed. It goes off for between 1 and 5 seconds then comes back on.

Sounds like it's nothing to do with the light fitting anyway, especially as I replaced it with a new one and nothing changed.

I'll probably have to get a spark to check the wiring etc.

Thanks guys!

Take it down and fit a cable with a plug on it …..plug it in the house and see if it does the same ….if so ….its faulty

I was hoping I could fix it, but now I’m in touch with a spark. I think it needs hands on from an expert…

Thanks for the replies, they did help
