Painting a bath side panel

My bath side panel is the original plastic and unpainted. It's off- white at present and I want it to be white which is the colour of the bath itself.

I would appreciate advice on what type of paint I should use and what preparation should I do beforehand.

I've done that with white Lego and it did work but unfortunately faded back to the same yellowed white within a year or so. Though that might just be the particular plastic Lego is made from. Also you would need a helluva lot of hydrogen peroxide to soak a bath panel not to mention something bigger than the panel to soak it in.

Out of interest did you you a UV lamp?

No I just soaked them in a tub outside in bright sunshine which I think is the given way for Lego.

Just a shame it didn't last though I believe some colours of Lego hold up better than others.

@neate If you look through the general DIY section or do a search there are a few threads where people have made replacement panels using white PVC soffit panels, they can look really smart, courtesy of @foxhole.

You can use plastics spray paint or replace cheaply like here.

Need ideas for a P shaped bath panel renewal

The panel on our P shaped bath has yellowed with age. I’m looking for some inspiration for a refurb. I’m guessing a replacement panel might be awkward in getting the right profile to fit the P. There’s a company on the net that sells a kit in the form of what looks like vertical lats that maybe...

You might consider just buying a new one. They are often made in moulded MDF which is much stronger and will not crack when your knees press against it as you clean the bath. And is easy to paint if you want to.

If you can use a saw you could make one of laminated furniture board or similar.

Unlaminated board is cheaper
